* Encourage research on the origin and treatment of this
illness, offering the data we have available to doctors.
* Inform patients of the scientific advances made in this field as well as visual and
financial aid that contribute to improve the quality of life and social integration.
* Bring together the largest number possible of aniridics, and in this way, understand the
epidemiology of this disease, its incidence in Spanish society.
* Make the society, government and medical community aware of the problems that people
with aniridia suffer and contribute to their social integration.
* Organize meetings, seminars, conventions, conferences, etc., on subjects of interest.
* Establish a center where data can be centralized and have a medical advisor team to
unify criteria and develop a protocol on the control and treatment of this illness. |
The Spanish
Association of Aniridia calls for:
- Training of specialists in this field.
- An interdisciplinary medical advisement group, which will unify criteria on the
treatment of this disease and establish a protocol for it.
- Research at genetic, therapeutic, epidemiological levels.
- Reference centers where patients can be attended by these specialists and where there is
a data base on these patients.
